IAAF - RDC

FEDERATIONS

There are 212 National Athletics Federations affiliated to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). These 212 Member Federations (MFs) are divided into six (6) Area Associations for geographical and administrative reasons. The Area Associations (AA) and their respective number of affiliated members are: Africa (53); Asia (45); Europe (50) NACAC (31); CONSUDATLE (13) and Oceania (20). Africa, owing to its geography and diversity is further subdivided into five (5) sub-regions; Western (16), Eastern (9), Northern (4), Southern (14) and Central (10).

The IAAF network of Regional Development Centers (RDCs) worldwide effectively covers these Area Associations. Presently, there are 9 centers in operation, located as follows: Africa (3) - RDC Cairo, Egypt (Arabic Speaking), RDC Nairobi, Kenya (English Speaking) and RDC Dakar, Senegal (French Speaking); Europe (1) - RDC Moscow, Russia; Asia (2) - RDC Jakarta, Indonesia; RDC Beijing, China; North America, Central America & Caribbean (1) - RDC San Juan, Puerto Rico; South America (1) - RDC Santa Fe, Argentina and OCEANIA (1) - RDC Gold Coast, Australia.

The RDC San Juan serves the North America, Central America and the Caribbean area association (NACAC), comprising 31 Member Federations. Owing to their native language (English) two other Member Federations from the South, CONSUDATLE (GUY and SUR) also participate on a regular basis in our development initiatives. This RDC is unique in that it caters to both English and Spanish Speaking fraternities in the region. While most of our programs are bilingual in nature we do conduct some activities separately, to effectively satisfy both groupings.
